Easy Paper Writing Checklist
[Home]
There are plenty of resources online about writing papers. This is just an checklist of easy but very important things to do before submitting a paper for either review or publication.
- Conference Checklists
- include the conference checklist if it exists (e.g. NeurIPS Paper Checklist)
- no going over the page limit
- Consistent Referencing Style
- abbreviations or full names for conferences and journals (e.g. AAAI vs. Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence)
- conference and journal publishers (I generally omit them)
- page numbers for conference papers where possible, and both volume and page numbers for journal papers
- Figures and Tables
- all figures and tables are referenced in the text
- no ?? anywhere due to missing keys in
\ref{}
or \cite{}
- Scholarship
- up-to-date versions of referenced papers (e.g. journal ≥ conference ≫ arXiv/workshop)
- correct bibtex citations (e.g. it's easy to make a typo in the year or coauthors in a bibtex entry)
- Acknowledgments
- projects and funding sources
- non-authors who you think helped
- Code
- link to code repository if desired or promised
